18 Holes of Lanzarote Golf
HOLE 3 – PAR 3 – HCP 8 The first par 3 is the only green with 3 levels, so the drive to the green is determined by the position of the flag. Out of bounds to the left. Bunker in front of and to the right of the green. Direction of the wind is v. important on this hole and makes it more difficult than it appears.
HOLE 6 – PAR 4 – HCP 2 Most difficult par 4 of the first 9 because of the distance. Uphill all the way to the green. Stone walls on either side of the fairway make it essential to keep the ball centre of fairway. Play the 2nd shot to the right of the fairway because the fairway slopes to the left. The green is protected by a bunker in front.
HOLE 7 – PAR 5 – HCP 12 Quite long but downhill all the way and not difficult with the wind behind. It’s a blind hole from the tee, but there is a pole at about 100 metres to guide you in the right direction. Out of bounds on the left, a stony, rocky area on the right, a good drive is essential to get you on the way. The green is defended by a series of bunkers on the left forcing you to play right.
HOLE 9 – PAR 4 – HCP 18 Straight hole but with the wind against and left to right, unless you keep the ball left of the fairway you can get into trouble on the stony area on the right. A fairway bunker on the left, short of the green and another, on the right , before a grassy mound just short of the green.
HOLE 11 – PAR 5 – HCP 9 Long hole, dogleg to the right and then a dogleg to the left. After the drive the fairway narrows and the 2nd shot has to be played with care, Trouble on the right with rocky hilly areas, and on the left flatter rocky areas. A large bunker in front of, and on the right protects the green.
HOLE 13 – PAR 4 – HCP 3 This is a long hole, downhill to the green, wide undulating fairway and large green. Fairway slopes to the right so keep ball left of centre to avoid rocky areas and walls on the right. Stone walls on the left as well. Fairway bunkers on the left and green protected by bunker in front of and to the right of the green. Out of bounds delineated by boundary wall on far left.
HOLE 15 – PAR 5 – HCP 11 Although shortish, it has to be played with strategy. A third of the distance to the green, stone walls narrow the fairway. About 100 metres from the narrow part along the fairway there are 2 bunkers and just beyond the bunkers, is a dry stone riverbed. The fairway slopes to the left where there are stony, rocky areas. The green is raised and protected by a bunker in front of and to the left of it. No out of bounds on this hole.
HOLE 16 – PAR 4 – HCP 7 Narrow fairway with 2 fairway bunkers on the right, a stone wall on the left, and 2 greenside bunkers on the right. The hole is uphill to the green and the fairway tends to slope to the right where there are rocky areas and stone walls. Keep ball left of the fairway to make approach to green easier.
HOLE 17 – PAR 4 – HCP 1 2nd most difficult hole, long and with a narrow fairway which widens up to a large lake which crosses the fairway.. Stone walls on the left and out of bounds on the right. Greenside bunker on the left. Water around left of green. Left to right wind makes this hole extremely difficult.
HOLE 18 – PAR 4 – HCP 5 Wide fairway, with bunkers left and right, Out of bounds on the left delineated by a stone wall and rocky areas on the right. The fairway narrows midway and goes downhill and slopes towards the right, where there are rocky areas, so it is important to keep the ball in the centre of the fairway for an easier approach to the green. There are 2 bunkers protecting the green in front and another on the right of the green. A left to right wind makes this hole difficult.
